I read about these undershirts absorbing sweat, and I'm sure they do. But prevent sweat stains? How does this sweat not eventually transfer to the shirt itself? Try this fun experiment at home: 1) put some damp cotton on some dry cotton; 2) watch what happens.

I guess y'all have some magical undershirts.

At best an undershirt will delay transfer, which is a fine thing. And of course there's that snazzy Don-Draper American-cravat look.

    Frequent bathing is your answer.

I'm surprised this threak hasn't been retired into DT yet.

I wear Tommy John undershirts. Corny, but functional. I wear them because I like to have that extra layer of protection should I break a sweat or smell. ;) (I walk A LOT)

Not me, :) TBH I just thought this threak was becoming rather dumb. There's like two sides and they're both firmly entrenched with their beliefs and opinions about a triviality. BTW I do wear an undershirt, because it's cold here, not that anyone notices or cares about it, apart from me.

My chest and back tend to perspire more heavily than my underarms so an A-shirt works perfectly. During the warmer months it helps to wick moisture away and it provides another layer of warmth during the colder months. I wear them year 'round.

I used to live in places that hit 43C/110F, no undershit required.

-I use undershirt cause this and this and this and this and... this.
    -I don't. It's wrong.
    -Really?
    -Absolutely.
    -Why?
    -It's tacky. That's it.
    -Really?
    -Absolutely.
    -That must be your opinion.
    -No. Everybody knows that.
    -Not everybody.
    -Many people.
    -Not that many...
    -Well. People who do matter.
    -Oh...

    I do wear undershirts

I bathe three times a day, once at lunch, because i go to gym at lunch.
White pasty deodorants mixed with sweats are the cause of yellow armpits stains.

I am surprised (NOT) by the number of "men" on this forum :)

You wear undershirt with white dress shirts so you don't look like you are smuggling a bear underneath! It used to be the "wife-beater" (sleeveless undershirt, for our foreign friends) and only recently most men started wearing t-shirts, instead. The wife-beater doesn't help in the sweat department, rather just covers the front of your upper torso, which is the part that would be visible with the jacket unbuttoned.
A real man, i.e. one with hair on his chest, would look disgusting with a white dress shirt and no undershirt. And if the shirt is not white - it better be as thick as museum curtains, otherwise it would look like your dress shirt is growing its own hair...
