I am interested to hear about if and how you wear a pocket square.
Does J Hilburn have some squares to fill our empty pockets?
gringodaddy - Perhaps, but not the reason for my question. Many of the guys I know don't really know what to do with pocket squares. I am interested in knowing who wears them, is there a geographical "tie-in", is it more about vocation?
Care to answer the question?
In NYC men who wear a jacket wear them or not as a matter of personal taste from my observations. I've never had an undo amount of attention paid to it, other than some compliments.

I've come to prefer always wear them but I tend to think there might be some negative connotations in some situations. That said I think it just looks much better, otherwise the pocket looks so empty and flat otherwise. A simple straight fold white square can't be too gaudy if you ask me, though I think some people go overboard.
I do most of the times when I wear a jacket. Usually white linen or cotton when I'm wearing a tie. More intricate with sport coats without a tie
I wear a pocket square most days, as they lend a little formality to what would otherwise be a very "workwear looking" fit. although i might adhere to full blown CM in the new year.
i don't like them to exactly match anything i am wearing, but add a bit of spice.
also, i got my first, of many to come today from Vivienne Westwood, loving the colors and patterns.= hooked.
Great thread idea, o.p. following this one.
A pocket square dresses up a sport coat with jeans or chinos. Agreed, nothing too fussy.
Vivienne Westwood - never would have thought - you must like a bit of color!
Is Etro considered too colourful?
Nothing wrong with color, Petepan. If you can carry it off, more power to you!!
To my mind color and pattern, and whether or not to wear a square at all are all about context. Meeting a new client probably calls for a conservative square, for example, though even then it might depend on your industry. Drinks with friends means you can bring the color up if that is your thing. Brand name has little to do with it.
I wear a square regularly. 95% of the time its a white linen tv fold. the remainder are varying shades of white, blue, burgundy etc.
Separate names with a comma.
