you really are an old fogey. everything from your idea that "music = rock" to musical choices like jet and black label society to admitting that the internet plays no part in how you consume music screams out of touch.

and that's cool, but you can't claim to know today's music scene or be able to judge it.

We are talking about rock - look at the title of this thread. If you want to start a thread that focuses on a different genre of music - have at it.

I said I liked Jet and BLS as an indication of modern bands I like - since everyone thinks I haven't bought a new album since 1989. Do you have a problem with the other bands listed as well?

When did I say the internet plays no part in how you consume music. I download all the time and use many different sites to search out music.

I know today's music scene - it's sucks for the most part, but there is a pocket of bands and artists that do have something to offer. But the music scene isn't the stuff you like and most people haven't heard of, the music scene today is the crap that is selling.

I just wanted to say that I checked out a few of these last night - some weren't quite my thing, but The ArchAndroid is the real deal. Thanks, man.

I see that you are unable to argue the last posting that I made to you, because well I obviously proved you completely wrong, confirmed that you don't know what you are talking about and also provided examples of modern bands that I like - negating all the old fogey talk. So thanks for coming out and giving me the opportunity to knock you the **** out.

Creed were awful, because Scott Stapp sucks. Alter Bridge blows them away.

Myles Kennedy who sings for Alter Bridge (and is currently touring with Slash) has been called the best hard rock singer of this generation.

Go through the rest of the list and give me your opinion.

Didn't someone say, just a few posts ago, that Y2k-now has not produced much? Oh yeah, you did. So really that makes this statement meaningless, based on your own assertions.

My position hasn't changed. I like some modern bands as I indicated by my list, there are some very talented musicians out there - but ultimately they have nothing on the stuff from the 60's and 70's. My comment about Myles, was that out of this generation only of bands and artists - he has been deemed by many modern hard rock fans as being the most talanted.

Hey Man has been deemed by many people to be the worst internet poster of his generation. He revolutionized internet posting with his poor grammar, atrocious spelling, and lack of intelligent thought.

You are also wrong about previous decades. In the 60's and 70's - there are countless great albums and a rock and roll history worth of epic bands and artists. When you just look at the 70's alone - in 10 years, look at all the classic rock bands that were born. We are talking like 50+ bands/artists that became rock gods and will be remembered forever. 98% of all music released today, won't be remembered 10 years from now and certainly no one is a rock god so to speak.

I certainly hope you don't think those emo rock bands we have today or bands like Arcade Fire fuckin' rock, cause they don't.

It's one thing to find music to simply like - it's another to be blown away. Name me one band that came out within this decade that truly blows your ******* mind at how great at how great they are and how they will be deemed revolutionary like a slew of 60's/70's bands?

Look, there are bands that have come along in the 60's and 70's that changed music forever and started new generations of rock bands that were influenced by these artists, but obviously added their own thing to it.

3. Yes, radio play did suck in the 60's and 70's - so how do you explain over a 100 hard rock bands in two decades that became incredibly successful and sold millions of albums and yet the bands you like in a decade with bad music on the radio as well, have sold dick and are not incredibly successful by any stretch of the imagination.

4. KISS and Alice Cooper are both very revolutionary for the bands that they are ala theatrical.

6. Yes, you listen to music that you like and that's fine - but for you to remotely suggest that the 90's and 00's is better or just as good as the 60's and 70's - just makes you look stupid when you consider the music that has been produced from those era's. Everyone knows that The Godfather is one of the greatest films of all time even if you didn't agree with the general consenus that the film is epic. If you had any brains, you would still concede that the film is recognized as such by the masses even if you disagree.

People disagree with your opinion. Restating it ad nauseum doesn't make it fact.
