Do you throw clothes away?

The BF and I had to go into the cellar last night to get rid of an old freezer and I found five tea chests full of clothes that I had forgotten since moving five years ago. I haven't missed them so I decided to chuck them all in the old clothes disposal bin around the corner. I wanted to do that without looking inside to avoid seeing something I might consider remotely desirable but curiosity got the better of me and I ended up saving 2 sweaters and threw away the rest. Do you guys do this periodically? I felt so much lighter afterwards.

Last year I left a couple of garbage bags filled with old clothes at our condo's waste disposal area, but not in the bin in case the maintenance staff wanted to take it.

I usually donate mine to charity, but I have thrown some things away on occasion.

Depends on the condition. If they are still wearable I will donate them to charity. If not I just toss them.

I do this probably once every two years. When I do, I usually give the clothes to purple heart.

I always find someone to donate my stuff to, whether family members, co workers etc etc. Also, my clothes usually look great even after owing them for years since i take good care of them. I'm constantly looking around for stuff that I don't use to donate since I hate clutter. For example, a few weeks ago a coworker of mine was telling me he was going to Paris for a couple weeks so I told him I have a practically new leather suitcase sitting in my closet taking up vital space and as such I need to get rid of it. He was ecstatic since he was in the market for a new suitcase to take on this trip. Therefore, I offered it to him right away and he came and collected it that day.

I've even donate stuff to strangers on-line. Last month I donated a pair of new shoes trees to a random guy on my favorite band's forum, I've also donated band T's to random members there too. My only stipulation for donation is that my stuff goes to people who really need it. Even car mods I've given away, once I don't use something there's usually no desire to hold onto it anymore, no matter how precious I may perceive it.

yep just threw away 2 trash bagfuls recently

all stuff I had originally intended to be "beater" wear over the years that ultimately never got worn. lesson learned, don't buy stuff you think will be "beater" garb

I've actually got a bunch of **** under my bed that I've been meaning to donate, mostly just t-shirts, jackets, and such that I haven't worn in ages.

I usually go through my closet once a year or so to clear out all the "unnecessaries."

Unless they're rags I really hope people are donating their stuff to Goodwill, Salv Army, etc. It takes five more minutes than just dumping it in the garbage, it's for a good cause, another man's treasure, tax writeoff, etc. etc. etc.

I guess I also do it as an experiment in donating to the uniform of the future hipster.

Since there are those of you who throw stuff away ( I assume this means in the garbage) can we start some sort of 'I'll pay you for shipping, or ... ' so that peoples good or relatively good clothes go to a good home (me?) as opposed to the trash?
