I thought I'd let you guys stew for a while. Besides, the expectations were so high that I hate to disappoint. I've seen her a couple of times but it's quite clear to me that this is going to be a good friendship and nothing more. I always knew this was a strong possibility so it's not that much of a disappointment. She's still the coolest girl I've ever met and I've found it surprisingly easy to put those "other" thoughts out of my mind when I'm with her.

Yikes! She's playing the friendship card, my condolences dude. Glad you're taking it well but seriously, who needs a friendship with a hot chick. It's a constant reminder of what you're not getting. You get to be the friend she talks to about her the other guys she's dating while you secretly hope it doesn't work out and she ends up with you. Girls love that crap because they know you will always be there waiting if they want you. Who needs that sh*t?

Best chance you have if you hope to nail her (assuming you want to avoid the whole hanging out as friends until the day you are alone and sufficiently drunk routine, which is really a bad strategy imo) is to take her out dancing or whatever once and have a good time. Show interest beyond friendship but don't make a move. Then don't call or see her for another few weeks. Take her out a second time and make your move. If it doesn't work, then at least you tried. You can still be friends afterwards if you still want to.

Just my $.02 GQgeek. I've done the friendship with a hot chick thing once and it's a freakin' waste of time. Life is too short to settle for a friendship in a relationship where you want more. I'd rather be friends with a hairy dude I have no desire to jump every time we go have a beer.

I do not think that I was ever just friends with a really hot girl. It would have been impossible for me. In reality, my friends were always guys.

I know where you're coming from with regards to being friends with a girl that's dating other guys, but it's a different situation if she's dating girls. There's none of the "what's he got that I don't have?" psychology. The answer is simple: a ****** ;p

Most of my real friends are women (as opposed to people I'm friendly with but really don't care about), and they're all above average in the looks department. For various reasons, I know that a romantic relationship would never work-out with them so it's not even in the back of my mind and it's never been an issue.

I don't bond very well with guys because our interests just don't intersect. Guys like to talk about sports, cars, T&A and girls they've fucked. I'm just not in to that on a general level. If I tried to ******** with every girl i was friends with I'd have no friends ;p

Regardless, I appreciate the sentiment. I know you guys are jsut trying to steer me away from the all to common scenario of the guy that's in love with a girl that thinks they're just friends. That's really not a danger here.
