If you have a cat, dog, or other critter, which is quite common, doesn't that defeat the whole purpose if the idea is clean floors?

I have a little girl and I'm wary she might drop some food on the floor and pick it up and eat it. Alas, sometimes I do that sitting on the floor watching tv with chips and beer- after the 3rd bottle, chips tend to slip off your hand more often.

and this is why I take off my shoes and change to house slippers once I step inside the house.

In my experience...yup.

If you're going to have a cat or dog, you have to be prepared for the likelihood that things aren't going to be as nice as they otherwise would. It's a definite trade-off for the companionship a pet brings.

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw. Picture an old English mansion drawing room with an older upper class couple having tea, with the butler standing at ready. Two dogs are in the room, one taking a dump in the middle of the room, and the other licking its own ass. Caption reads; "Winford, don't you think life was more genteel BEFORE the dogs?"

One of the nice things about dress shoes is that they don't have treads for dirt, mud, and snow to (temporarily) get stuck in. That being said, they're still not clean enough to eat off, so I won't wear them on my floors that are.

It would be tempting to only ask cocktail guests with treads to take their shoes off, but then I'm afraid I'd be stepping on a lot of stockinged toes! This issue is, of course, more accute for women, as stiletto heels can make quick work of wood floors.

99% of people wear very ugly shoes. So asking them to take those ugly shoes off is like doing them a huge favor. The only guests who are excluded from this rule are women who wear high heels.

On a subject of strange shoe habits: There is nothing more weird than a woman wearing an overcoat and pare of white sneakers. On a second thought women wearing a cocktail dress and chugging beer right out of the bottle is a very close second. Aren’t those Americans strange?

The habit on this website, which I found 1 year ago searching for weejuns , is perhaps more strange. Previous 1 man there, wore his shoes in the bath, including AEs.

Vaclav,

This is a scary website. The first man writes:

I live in Rockingham in Western Australia, I moved here 12 years ago from the UK. I have for a long time felt that I was one of a kind, I enjoy getting wet and dirty while in Business suits and tuxedos, I love the feeling of being wet, but now I know there are others like me, and would like to meet a lady or gentleman in the Perth Western Australia area to share this passion.

I like showering and bathing in Business clothes and Tuxedos, but would like to take it further in pools and streams.

I always take my outdoor shoes off at home. I have indoor shoes, normally ones that work with the nordic track so I'm always ready to jump on it when I feel the need. When I go somewhere, I wear my shoes inside their house if they do as well. If they have pets, I really don't want their fur getting on my socks, and thus getting inside my shoes. Since I can't stand pets, I'd rather not go where they are anyways.

Vaclav,

I think he may so. I remember the Shooman, and his shirtless in bed picture too--very disturbing.

I also remember the one where the man took a bath in his Weejuns.

Yes. Keeps the house clean, keeps my feet from sweating up, and keeps me from getting killed >_>
