Oh yes, the first time I saw that (on my first trip there, ten years ago), I actually couldn't stop laughing.

Ahem.

A (very lucky) friend who spent a week in Amsterdam last spring told me that what they sell as mid-grade bud over there (about $30 an eighth) was far better than the best designer buds he has smoked in the US, at about $60-75 an eighth.

Though I read in High Times that the main draw is the availability of many different strains in one shop, not to mention the legality of it. The author of the article actually thought that Cali bud was better than what he had in Amsterdam.

good weed over here comes from mostly Humbolt or Mexico. At least as far as I know. The Cannibis club stuff is *really good*

I don't really think that is an issue. The social-democrat parties such as SPD in Germany or the socialist Parties such as PS in France are all members of the 2nd International and share a lot of common characteristics in practice.

In France, LÃ

Club bud varies from place to place. Definitely very good, though. They also sell THC pills, laced candy bars, and the like.

Neither do all coffeeshops serve the best quality. Most of it is quite potent, certainly above-average for the US or UK, but because of heavy commercial production, turned out in conditions that do not allow for the greatest complexity. I am only a casual user and do not obsess. But I do know those that have the breadth of experience and they tell me that the best weed is available anywhere given one has the money and connections.

Here's an idea for some ebay entrepreneurs...

Start up a line of high-end designer clothing made from hemp. Make it in China for low price. Sell it for high price on ebay. Why will buyers purchase this? For the fancy brand name, and for the little 'treat' in the pocket.

Socialism is on the rise again throughout much of Latin America. The USA's influence and reputation in Latin America has been extraordinarily negative since Kissinger's era, and it is doubtful that will change anytime soon. It is an outright hatred of US politics and capitalism (and the carnage that it created) that has led to a recent surge in pro-socialist (and anti-US) politics in Latin America.

It's worth noting that the Latin American history of socialism differs quite strongly from that of the USSR and China. Most Americans are unaware of the history of socialism in Latin America however. And it is rarely, if ever, mentioned as an example of modern socialism in practice.

Also, you forgot to mention that most of western Europe was led by socialist ideals, and socialist governments, throughout much of the latter half of the 20th Century. It's interesting to note that when discussing historical examples of socialism, countries such as England, France and Denmark (for example) are rarely discussed. This is hardly a balanced, or even educated, view of modern socialism.

I was not talking about Socialism proper; my emphasis was more on Communism, which tends to be a much more radical dogma.

As for Latin America their governments have a history of polarization. One generation is a monarchy, i.e. Braganza Brazil and then it is some Fascist derived system, i.e. the Peron regime.

Anything illegal, especially substances, makes for flagrant misuse and possibly absue.

How about some BC reviews? I went up there one time in college and we "had coffee" and the major point of the next few hours that I remember was that it took us about 20 minutes to figure out how to divvy up a taxi fare between three of us, for a 7-8 minute ride. Not even sure why we felt we needed to divide it up in the first place. Yo, Canadian money is con FUSING, mann!

That said, I don't miss it at all. A not-insignificant part of my high school life was wasted directly or indirectly due to the evil weed. I would have to be really, really drunk to even consider sparking up again.

I've never been to Vancouver or BC in that sense, but do remember when I attended a college near the border in New England, Canadian crop was considerably danker than Mexican.

Personally I see many more harmful incidents arise due to alcohol than marijuana. It's no contest. Some people I know are truly preferable stoned than drunk or even sober. But like most pleasurable things it's not hard to overdo it.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I like to end up in the wrong state with a clear mind
