Do you slip on the tacks in the heels of your shoes?

I've just got a second hand pair of Barker Creative goodyear welted shoes and I think they are going to kill me! I went for a short walk to the shops and found myself slipping helplessly in them, it seems I'm slipping on the tacks in the heels. They are the the first shoes I've had with a 1/4 rubber heel and which have tacks holding the heel together. The sole appears to be the original one and I don't have any reason to suspect the heel isn't either.

My question is, is this a common issue and what can I do about it?

    Best Regards

Once they get a little worn it stops.

You could have a cobbler add rubber taps to the rear of the shoe which might help.
