    What the titles says....

When wearing leather shoes/boots I match the color of my belt but I don't seem to do the same for my leather coats (I can wear a black coat with brown shoes for exemple).

I don't really have hard and fast rules about this, I just look at the overall composition and if I think it works I go with it.

To put it another way, the colors of fabrics in shirts, pants etc. can be used to offset different leather tones.

I am the same as tangerine. I think it just so happens that this is the easisest thing to do, and more often than not, you will not look badfrom matching. More risk, not much reward.

My leather jacket is blue, and I don't have blue leather shoes or a belt, so no.

I'm very satisfied with it as it gets a lot of wear in the weather we have right now. It's a very stylish piece and I foresee it getting worn a lot during summer. I haven't tried "dressing it up" yet though so I dunno how it will look in that context.

no doubt....gimme his summer and I'll keep my winter.

on topic, my leather jacket is dark brown and I wear primarily brown shoes so it's a moot point for me, but i wouldnt have a problem wearing black jacket/brown shoes or vice versa

The coat I'm talking about is as light as a sportscoat....plus it gets colder at night even in the blazing summer heat.
