The price at the pump has doubled over the last few years and just keeps going up. I've heard some market analysts predict it will double again by 2012. Is it ever going to come down?

The cynic in me says even if the market fundamentals dictate prices should drop, retailers will just leave the prices high and enjoy the fatter margins looking for any excuse to blame it on.

We could acquire all of the world's oil supply and the price would still never drop. Once it's been established that people are willing to pay $4 a gallon, there's no reason to sell it for $2, even if we could.

no. gas prices will fluctuate for sure but the overall trend will be up, up, and up until the world stops relying on black gold. read "Twilight in the Desert" and i can guarantee your answer will be "no" too.

thats a tough question to answer, since it relies on Supply and demand. If things change and the average person or business relies much less on Gasoline and oil, then the prices will certainly decline.

Green energy is offering quite an incentive for people to research and develope it, now, so as their developement allows for decreases in demand for gas, the prices will fall.
