Do you argue over sartorial matters in real life?

Some guy I was talking to recently said that the big windsor knots that the ESPN anchors wear with point collars are "in style." His comment was funny because it came out of nowhere and he said it with such conviction. I responded with the SF four-in-hand dogma, and said that loose knots look sloppy. He assured me that I was wrong. I let the argument go immediately.

There are a lot of heated sartorial arguments on this board. I can see certain members doing that. Anyone ever had a heated argument in real life?

As a 21 year old uni student I regularly argue with people over the fact I wear pocket squares.

No, I avoid discussions regarding clothing. But then who discusses 'sartorial matters' in real life. I cant imagine sitting with my friends, having a beer and discussing 'sartorial matters' let alone arguing about them. For that I have my ifriends

They, and very few men I know in real life, have zero interest in talking about clothes other than a passing comment.

I am known for my clothing so people generally just take what I tell them at face value... my boss, a man who wears shirts two sizes too big, square toe shoes, and who owns two suits did however feel compelled to comment the other day, that he felt my pants were too short

I try never to get drawn in to discussions about clothing. I'm always being given gentle digs about what I wear but then if everyone dressed the same it would be a very boring place....

I always have sartorial discussions over drinks with friends. We are all stylish people so it seems appropriate.

I do hate when strangers want to start a sartorial discussion with you though. I find it a bit off putting and try to keep it really short and just accept any compliments. I find that most people who want to start random conversations with you about clothes really just want to gauge your financial status and possibly have a dick measuring contest. I have even had people outright come up to me and ask how much I paid for the suit I was wearing and such. I have no issues answering their direct questions, but I still do find it socially unacceptable.

No. You'll just seem like the loser who discusses the finer points of Nietzsche and claiming others "just don't understand". If they come to you with a question, then they get a quick answer that's to-the-point. Only if they continue to inquire do they receive a more engaging discussion.
