Do YKK have a monopoly on zippers?

I'm sure that they have a large market share, but most of my "top end" goods use better Euro-made zippers like Lampo, Riri, RY, etc.

What about Mother of Pearl buttons...they seem to make everyone's buttons!!

YKK zippers cost about $.45 to riri being $10.00 at cheapest from what I've seen.

i am too lazy to look this up, but once someone posted an article about an international zipper price-fixing and market-monoploizing scheme. seriously. edit: i wasn't too lazy after all. it's cited in wikipedia. reuters
