I'd say scruffy is winning by a hair.

My girlfriend prefers scruff. Since we've started dating I only shave once a week.

I think it depends on the girl and the event. Camping-hunting a little beard. Anything that requires a tie, clean shaven. There are also women that like guys metrosexual even when Zombie killing and ones that like you to be macho looking even at Lincoln Center events.
The above rule, like anything else regarding women, is subject to change at a moments notice, with no explanation whatsoever.[IMG]

Although I have always been of the clean shaven school, I have to say I think now a little scruff seems to go a long way... I find that 2 days is good, on day 3 tidy up the lines a little. much more and I tend to start to look a little bit like the guy in Castaway.

Hell, I may even invest in a babylis i-trim!

It really depends on what kind of guy is sporting the stubble (or clean-face.)
I tend to clean-shave quite often and get compliments on how "cute" I look.

When I experiment with stubble the people who compliment me on my cuteness usually don't have much good to say, but others speak up with their approval of how "bad-ass" scruff looks on me.

I attempted to grow a beard a year ago and got plenty of compliments on that...

But I digress, and was only using my own experience to prove my point. Different types of women like different styles of facial hair-or the lack thereof. You have to determine for yourself and in your own subjective experience with women, which one is best for you.

I've asked a lot of girls, they all choose completely clean shaven, though that's not my taste nor do I think it looks best on me.

She likes the way I LOOK with 2-3 day stubble but I have a pretty heavy beard and it destroys her face. And other areas.

I'm a newbie here. I stumbled upon this thread and found it interesting to write my views on the discussion. Girls like clean shaven guys so that they can kiss them without any hesitation. [IMG]

I shave when I get itchy or my hair starts to curl over my upper lip. I look best 3-4 days after shaving I've been told.

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of systematic alterations in male facial hair on female perceptions. A within-subjects design employed one condition (facial hair) incorporating five levels (clean-shaven, light stubble, heavy stubble, light beard and full beard). All levels were applied to three different facial designs, constructed using FACES software. The resulting 15 male faces were rated by 60 females on various attributes. Male faces displaying a full beard were considered the most masculine, aggressive, socially mature, and older. Males with a light beard were considered the most dominant. Males with light stubble were considered to be the most attractive, light stubble was also preferred for both short- and long-term relationships. These findings are discussed in terms of age preferences and good-genes models.
