Do we still buy Louboutin sneakers or at this point they are faux pas?

Given the popularity of minimalistic sneakers on one end and crazy streetwear sneakers on the other end - where do Louboutins fit in? Or is it at this point a stereotypical purchase of a guy who has no sense of style?

I'm not sure who "we" is, but Louboutin has, in my opinion, always been best left to the ladies.

It is mostly tacky on the men's side. And expensive to boot.

You can buy a nice pair of Crown sneakers and still dine out at the Savoy.

I can't speak to the construction or comfort but in looking at those shoes they look like a chew toy for my dog with the spikey toes. I'm sure somewhere they're fashionable, but not to my eyes.

I think really everything we need to know about Louboutin mens is summed up by the following product:
It is listed as an oxford on their website.
It is called the "Alpha Male"
It is sold out.
It costs more than C+J Handgrade when ordered through mail order.

I looked up "Louboutin sneakers" and a fairly wide variety of styles came up, from the inoffensive, boilerplate white Stan Smith copies to some indescribably ridiculous shoes with spikes and red teeth.

They look to be the stereotypical purchase of a 20-something who, for whatever reason (celebrity or vast inheritance) is far more wealthy than they should be at their age, and sees a $1K pair of sneakers to be a status symbol -- but only to "those who know."

Anyone who spends that much on a pair of sneakers is a jackass, and being a jackass is always a faux pas.
