In Japan, which seems to be a trend, I've seen some people with long wallets that poke out of their back pockets (like those from LV or Gucci, etc.) with chains cause I guess they don't want people to yank them out

They seem to be coming back in style. I saw two last week.

Bottega V. had a badass chain wallet a few months back that was badical. But pricey as **** too, costing about $750. I wore a chain wallet for like 15 years but have since gone chain-less in the last couple.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If my outfit seems particularly boring or plain to me, I'll often hook the chain onto my wallet, but it's really just a question of what I feel like on any given morning.

I used to do that, 10 years ago....not my style anymore, looks cool with thick wallets and a bruiser look...

Here in NY where most trends end up overdone and ghettofied - it's become ubiquitous. Often there is no wallet attached to the chains -- just a chain for the sake of having a chain.

In high school I used to have my wallet on like a 4-foot chain that banged off everything and clinked when I tried to sit down. That was the only way we had to separate all of us cool kids from all of the jocks and preps and normal kids. The all-black outfits and combat boots and spiked hair and black eye makeup and Godsmack CDs weren't enough... the real divide was the wallet chain.

God I was a smarmy little **** in high school.

If I get another wallet chain it would be chained to my belt (not a beltloop) and chained hard to my wallet and it would actually be to stop it getting pickpocketed because once is enough for that ****.

No chain for me.
Ever.
Never ever.
But the last time I rode my scooter my wallet worked itself halfway out.
Maybe it's not such a bad idea.
Not all Harley ideas are bad ideas apparently.
But only when I'm being a badass riding my scooter.

That chain was exceptional. I have a black Red Moon chain that I wear sometimes, although I never get many opportunities since it is not really work appropriate.

Yup.

It's a little conspicuous, but it works.

My wallets have had a tendency to get lost before.

Saddle leather Red Moon chain for me, but I am careful when and where I wear it as not to look like a douche.
