Do Tom Ford suit jackets make for good blazers?

I have a buddy that is selling 6 Tom Ford suits (1 solid navy blue, 2 solid dark grays, 1 solid light gray, 1 checkered gray, and 1 checkered navy blue).

The jackets fit me nicely, but the trousers don't.

Would the suit jackets (after a tailor changes all of the buttons to mother of pearl buttons) make for good blazers for day and evening wear?

If you like orphans, then why not? IMO, Tom Ford is pretty overpriced though, so if you decide to pull the trigger, make sure that they really do "fit you nicely."

You can tell that a "blazer" is actually an "orphan"? If so, how?

Could be a drop issue, or a trouser width issue, I suppose.

Bold = yes, rest = ymmv. Checkered gray and navy = more potential than the solid greys / charcoals.

It would be an awful shame to split up a good suit, tell your buddy to send them to me if a 46L. If in other sizes let members here have a good price and use the $$$ to buy a proper sport coat / blazer in a design you like

Heres the thing. In my experience Tom Ford Blazers usually have patch pockets, and the older ones have metal buttons. The suits usually have flap pockets and every time my friend wore his TF suit jacket as a blazer i felt it was pretty obvious that it was a suit jacket. Then again if i didn't already have TF blazers/sport coats would i use it as a a blazer on a night out? probably yes.
