Do these two go together?

Hi all,

I got the itch for a dashing navy waistcoat and pant combination. Ideally, I'd like the pant and waistcoat to be corresponding and exactly the same. However, the waistcoat I am eyeing is J.Crew, while the trousers are Epaulet. As you would guess, J.Crew has a matching pair of pants for the vest; but, even though the fabric is sourced from Loro Piana, I would imagine Epaulet offers finer trousers (and for a similar price).

My question is, do you think these two would work together and from more than a foot away look like they match?

I realize it's hard to tell and subtle differences may be discernible up close, that's OK. Just want it to look like it's 90-something% a match. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks!

They should either be identical fabric or contrasting, you should not be wearing two items which are the same colour but not quite the same fabric.

From whom? J.Crew?

do u need a 3-piece? just wear the vest with something VERY contrasting and you will be ok. heck...rock it with jeans and a tee for super casual wear...

Yeah, I rock that look quite often. I have a number of Target (Merona) vests (surprisingly pretty solid). However, I do like to look a bit more dapper at times and vest and corresponding pant match is pretty nice. I'm probably not gonna bother with the jacket.
