Do these shoes look "never worn" to you?

Allen Edmond's Park Avenue. I bought them from Ebay "New without box" - which should mean never worn. They seem like what I'd call (albeit slightly) worn. Then again, leather is almost never perfectly pristine.

Unsure if I should ask the seller for a partial refund.

What do people more knowledgeable think? Thank you.

They look worn. That's a relatively well defined crease.

Can you return? With the current tent sale, I think the PA's are $199 for seconds. At least they'd be new (or only slightly tried on).

How much did you pay for it? It's probably best to follow the advice from the prior poster. The evidence is pretty blatant if you ask me.

They're definitely in great shape, but it's hard to say how often they've been worn. It looks like someone's blacked the outsole, which is why the welting thread is black rather than white. And the pockmarks in the heel are strange given that the chevron shows no wear. Anyone who's worn shoes with leather outsoles knows that you'll see wear after the first trip on a concrete sidewalk.

Bottom line: if they were between $0-$100 shipped, I'd have no problem keeping and wearing them. Anything above that and you can probably get real "new" ones.

"New" doesn't necessarily mean that they weren't tried on (everal times) and worn around the house. Unless you got them for under $200, I'd return them. AE Park Avenue seconds regularly sell for $199.

Were they advertised as "tried on"? Or did the seller provide clear pics showing it had been worn? If not, tell the seller you want to return with return shipping charges reimbursed. If they balk, don't waste your time and just file a dispute with ebay/paypal, and you'll end up getting the shoes for free. Nothing pisses me off more than abuse of the the "new without box" description.

Yes I already filed a dispute & am in communication with the buyer. But, they insisted strongly the shoes were brand new, so I posted here to make sure I wasn't being unreasonable.

I now think perhaps the soles had been blackened to hide additional scratches.

guys, if you go to the local nordstrom rack, you'll see similar sole paint. Its done on pairs that were worn and returned. Typically the soles are fine and the shoes have barely been worn.

depending on the price, I might just let this slide.

The questions is "were they brand new when the seller bought them?" If he bought a beaten up pair from Nordstrom Rack or a pair of bad seconds from AE, then that would explain it. Honestly, unless you got them for under 200, I'd return them. Again, AE sells seconds for $199 almost all of the time.

No, these have been worn and the soles painted to try to hide the fact. new shoes do not have indentations in sole or heel.

The vendor is telling lies.
