Do these black Grenson G-one Chancery Brogues from Mr. Porter work with darker designer denim?

I'm looking to find out if these are too formal to pull of with a nice pair of jeans. I can't seem to find a consensus on here and don't want to take the plunge without asking the great minds of this magnificent forum. Any help is appreciated...

Probably okay. Those shoes don't look very formal (among other things, don't look shiny) and, for example, wouldn't go with a suit.

If those shoes took a really good shine, they'd look good with a suit. Black shoes with denim is a little too North Jersey for me (note that I live there). That said, those strike me as fairly tasteful shoes, so they'd be alright with jeans.

Not designer jeans, though -- I find the label sewn into the waistband of the pants really affects what you can pair with them.

I personally don't really like the brogues and jeans look, as even though brogues began their history as country walking shoes they have been accepted as formal businesswear for long enough to have transcended into permanent status therein. Now a really chunky 360 welt double sole longwing blucher/derby brogue in pebblegrain calf would go a lot better with jeans than those smooth grained oxford/bals you have displayed.
