I remember when I was in middle school a friend of mine had some canvas Sutter's pants and I thought they were about the coolest things ever. A quick google search turned up nothing.

Googled it and found that the company was started by Cliff Abbey. Abbey started Sticky Fingers jean company in the 1970s and sold it in 1983. After living in Italy for a while, he returned to the US and opened restaurants. That bored him so he opened Sutters in 1996, as well as two other jean companies. He again got bored so he sold out in 2001 and became a vitner and runs Clare Luce Abbey Estate. Cant find his jeans? Go drink some of his wine... He will probably get bored with wine and open another jean company soon.
