DO OCBDs look better or worse with the chest pocket?

I am considering removing the chest pocket from an OCBD.

According to Will, when BB started putting breast pockets on their OCBDs in 1969, it was one of the low points of his life.

What's the problem with manually removing them, then? The holes?

I think the holes will close up in the wash. There is a risk that you may tear or fray the cloth in the process of removal, however.

You may also (on colored shirts) find a darker color on the newly exposed patch because of fading due to wash/wear/light of the 'main' shirt.

I like them better w/.

w/o. Use a seam ripper only takes a few minutes.

I think it depends on how you're going to wear the shirt. If you're going to wear it casually most of the time, without a jacket, I much prefer to have a pocket. It's very handy for storing glasses or sunglasses. But as a dressier shirt, I like no pocket better. That way, when I take my jacket off, it looks neater and less like I co-opted a casual shirt for office use.

I don't mind the pocket, and think it looks fine. It's functional, too.
