Do Men's Jeans Stretch

Ok -- this is probably a stupid question. But generally speaking women's jeans are made with some stretch in the fabric. You want to buy them snug and they will loosen a bit with wear. Is the same true of men's jeans? If I buy a pair that's snug, can I expect it to loosen up or will it always be snug in the butt or crotch?

Every pair of jeans I have owned have stretched at least a little bit, sometimes a lot. How much usually depends on the brand. They almost always shrink back to original size though after a wash.

Some women's jeans are made with a bit of spandex to provide stretch as they move around, but that's because women's jeans are a lot more shape-hugging than men's. Men's jeans only very, very rarely have spandex and those ones are probably not the ones you'd want to be seen in.

Plain old cotton denim (i.e., jeans without spandex) will stretch out a bit as they break in, and tighten up a bit again when they're washed, but they won't have the same kind of give that a pair with spandex would have.

Levi's 514s are laced with Spandex btw... it makes them pretty nice and snug. As for whether they stretch or not... I owned a pair of Calvin Kleins that stretched after 1 or two wears... it got so bad I stopped wearing them (even though when you washed them it went back to normal).

Try a hot tumble in a dryer... that should shrink them.

Are the raw 514s made with spandex as well? I tried on a pair of 31x32s that fit me perfect off the rack, but they were the pre-faded kind, and the stitching on the inside leg looked really messed up. Would the raw/rigid 31x32s fit me exactly the same as the washed ones?

One size, within a couple of days, no problem. I would expect more within a few weeks.
