Do Charvet use gussets on their shirts and if not, why not?

gussets, I believe/have read, are placed at "stress points" of the shirt to prevent tearing.

Sounds kinda good but another myth

Mine either. In fact, all two of my Charvet shirts actually have square bottoms, which strikes me as weird on a dress shirt.

My bespoke shirtmaker and fellow forumite Freddy Vandecasteele does not use them on my commissions

Same here. Frankly, I don't care whether there's gusset or not.

I don't see why that part would be a stress point. I don't have Charvet but I have other respected brands and none of them have gussets.

Borrelli have gussets with fancy embroidery on them and stuff.

Also Black Fleece, though I think that's more of a styling thing. Those shirts have several weird styling details.

Gussets undoubtedly make the shirt easier to manufacture. It's not just the turns in the hem, either. For example I've got some RLPL shirts that are very nicely made-- the hemming in particular is exceptionally well done. But if you look at the shirt it's obvious that the various major pieces (the two fronts and the back) were hemmed separately and then joined together. They even hemmed the shirt fronts before they sewed the front placket down. That would be very hard to do if you put the shirt together first, then hemmed it.

They are structurally unnecessary.

They are either used to cover-up the seam or as a "grace note" or signature element of the maker.

unnecessary.
we will sometimes add them on the inside part of a square bottom with a ****.
in that case it will help.
but it is not noticeable.

none of the those different colored things that call attention to themselves
