Good morning
I haven´t been posting for a while now but wanted to celebrate my comeback with the effort of an experiment i did lately.

I do not know if it looks good, mainly because it took some time and i dont want to look it bad. So i am forced to think it looks nice, but does it really? I think the robustness of the shoe works against the heavy shine.

Opinions appreciated.

I polished the cap with water/neutral polish and then put on several layers of water and tiny tiny amounts of black polish.

I think i can take it off easily because the black polish is grounded by 5-7 layers of neutral water-polish. I THINK so...we´ll see.

Hello,

And welcome back, again.

Black polish on a brown shoe? Really?

Looks like you did a very good job! What brand of polish did you use? Hard wax or soft cream?

I tried using blobs of green and blue cream, mixed with mahogany, on a pair of tan shoes...it worked out very well, the additional specks of colour gives it a 3-dimensional feel.

Looks fine, looks like a standard antiquing job, or what highly polished caps look like after a few years.

thanks for the replies so far.

i used standard hard wax ("buwi" metal cup, about 2 euros per cup). first layers without colour, then 2-3 layers with very little black wax.

as for the dark pic, i try to take a better one with more light. it was kinda hard to reduce the reflection of the flash.

I think it looks very nice. Almost makes me want to buy a pair of brown shoes (never owned any before).

Certainly... or cordovan or darker brown or green... play around and see what you get.
