If any of you want to directly address anything I've said, cool. I'd be happy to learn your opinions.

But if, as it seems, you gain greater satisfaction from discussing the delivery, so be it. That doesn't strike me as particularly interesting though.

Are you just looking for people to agree with what you've already concluded? That StyleForum is made up of mindless consumers who don't care about the environment? Really well respected members here attempted to share their personal insights in regards to your question. Apparently, it wasn't enough for you. I'm sorry? Be ok with that and move on.

Better yet, start your own thread on sustainability. Be the change you wish to see in StyleForum

Almost none of the replies directly respond to my questions at all. Least of all yours. I'm perfectly happy to discover that I'm wrong in my assumptions. As it is though, the last page or two has done little but confirm my prejudices. It's funny the pitchfork-wielding mentality that spreads in this forum the moment anyone dares speak heresy.

Can you be explicit in what your unanswered questions are? I'm a bit lost in the back and forth. I have opinions and concerns about sustainability and apparel production from a number of points of view.

Essentially I'm interested in whether style forum members base their purchasing decisions on sustainability issues, and if so to what degree.

I've been repeatedly told that I am rude and presumptive for assuming that they would do otherwise, but so far no one has offered any convincing evidence to the contrary.

Well, yeah, if you're making assumptions then yes you are being rude and presumptive.

You could have come in and asked this in a way to started a discussion, perhaps by presenting some data about the environmental impact of menswear with an idea or two about how people could reduce their impact as a starting point for discussion, but from all appearances a discussion isn't what you were after, from here it looks more like you were seeking affirmation of your own biases.

From your post history, it seems like you just like going into threads and stirring up arguments, so it's hard to drum up the motivation to reply earnestly.

You (and to be fair, many others) see them as arguments. I see them as interesting discussions. At least when the people involved engage rather than simply becoming uptight and attacking the messenger.

Have you actually looked at how this discussion started? Or even what it was about?

I challenge you to find a human being who doesn't make assumptions. It's part of how humans function.
