Dior homme

I was searching Yoox and I found a Dior Homme coat which I am now in love with - (looked at it about 5 times already) The problem is I am completely unfamilar with the pricing points & quality of the line. Can anyone comment on their experiences with the line overall, as well as the sizing (I presume it to be slim fitting). I am normally a 42 US, can wear a 40 though.

The Dior shop here in NYC on 57th does not carry mens, but will begin in September according to the store's salespeople, so I cannot even try anything on.

I do not want to spend $800 (what do the coats normally go for?) and have to send it back. Thanks in advance.

Hey there,
I'm a BIG fan of Dior Homme. I am lucky to have a few pieces from Hedi Slimane's line and know the sizing/ price point quite well. I own an overcoat from last winter, which I assume is where the coat you're interested in is from since it's on yoox. I ought my coat in an American 42 so I could fit my suit coat under it. It runs very slim, probably the most of any designer, along the lines of the Balenciaga line and Helmut Lang. Just for reference, I am a 38 Regular in suits from Paul Smith and ones of tried on from Dolce, etc. I have a Dior Homme tuxedo jacket/blazer with leather lapel striping that is a 40 American. I'd say go a size up from what you usually are. I'm very slim (29/30 waist) and love Dior Homme for this. I have found the sizing to be very consistent throughout the line. His sleeves are always on the longer side, but meant to be in the design. I love the length

I'm not sure the exact coat you're looking at so pricepoint is a bit harder. Dior Homme coats are usually priced from $1100 to $1800 for true coats. Blazers can get near $900. Always buy it on sale. I thonk you'd love the quality and cut of these pieces. It's really good, especially with coats and jackets.

If you want to try some pieces on for size in NYC check out:

Bagutta: on W. Broadway and Grand/Spring in Soho- They're moving down the street and have just a bit left, but had some coats left last weekend. Plus their stuff is up to 70% off.
Jeffrey: W. 14th St btwn. 8th and 9th Ave. They had a few pieces left a while back. Usually a great selection and carries most of the line.
Barney's: 660 Madison Ave. Everything's gone. New line should probably be in in the next month or so.

We're getting in between seasons here in NYC. Bagutta's your best bet for sizing right now. I just went shopping last week if your wondering why the heck I know what was left. Hope this helps.
