There is nothing like a good hanging to let one see the details of dinner suit.

It's very odd looking at pictures like these. My grandfather bore a striking resemblance to him, albeit a bit shorter and only wore bespoke clothing that fit perfectly.

After his passing, all of his bespoke items made their way to a cousin who probably eventually threw them away or gave them away. Looking back, I should have fought for some of the ties. He had someone in LA who made them bespoke as well. Very trad.

Great photos. I wonder what the reasoning was? I roast of some sort?

the white buttonhole on his lapel is not at the usual angle. i assume that is a buttonhole.

I don't think its a buttonhole, it goes off the edge of the lapel. I've seen other celebrities wearing something similar that I was told was an award from the French government. Is that what this is?

I always love seeing the sleeves of his jackets and how perfect his cuffs always are. Even in motion, everything looks just right. The man was a sartorial god.

Am I the only one who thinks his coat looks rubbish? Look at those non-sensical waves at either side of his chest. I'm not a staunch anti-drapist or anything, but good god!

Plus, watch chains across the waistcoat are day-wear AFAIK.

You're thinking of the Legion of Honour. Silver would be a commander, though this looks thicker than the usual thread, almost like a ribbon, or at least several different strands.

I like the single link cuffs and the single shirt stud, though he thereby puts his flapped pocketed friend to shame.
