Never been to Embeya before, but Publican is amazing. And the Bristol, while probably not close, would be worth the cab ride.

I still think Publican is overrated. Looking forward to trying Kahan's new place in the Thompson, though.

Nico is worth a try. Crudo, fantastic. Wish they had a broader range of pasta. Let me know when you go, it's in my back yard

I like this thread. Forgive me if it's been mentioned prior but I just recently went to Tango Sur in Wrigleyville and found it fantastic. The wait sucks but we had a group with reservations so it was only about 20 minutes but from what I've read it can be a couple hours.

A couple places in Bridgeport that I favor, may be a little downscale but: Nana Organic and Pleasant house bakery, both good and inexpensive. Nana is more sit down dining with great Sunday Brunches (~$20-30 a person) where Pleasant House is more diner'esque sit down with some Pies and Chips (British Pies) (~$10-15 a person).

Went to Pleasant House a couple weeks ago. Not kidding, my friend had 2 pubes in his meat pie (which is an awesome sentence, btw). He took it back and got another. Which ultimately had another pube in it. Mine was all good though. And IMO pubes make a meat pie more authentic as there is something slightly Dick-ensian about it, if you know what I mean and I think ya do cuz I am talking about dicks people!

Any good Russian restaurants in downtown Chicago?

On a side note, how are the streets right now? Can I get away with Dainite/rubber boots or should I opt for Columbia/Merrell? :embar:

Even leather is OK now (may be cold though)

Don't know about Russian though. I have been to the Russian tea room and I suppose it was fine.

Had some Brunch at Nana's in Bridgeport.

Chicken Fried Steak with chipotle gravy, two eggs, & homefries

My wife had their Nanadict

poached eggs, chorizo, pupusas, poblano cream, farm greens, home fries

And had some apple pancakes with cinnamon apples and creme anglaise

THat place is really good... I think it was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives... .which isn't always a good thing, but I really liked their food. There's a place called Ed's Potsticker House about a block away that is also quite good.
