we currently have chairs that look like the mutt that results from the Cesca and the Spoleto mating game. They're heavy, clunky, and take up a surprising amount of room, especially down low. They are the desire to replace.

What about the Jasper Morrison Hi-Pad? Prettiest seat shape he does, but limited base options.

    i love those. Just pricey.

They're great with a Saarinen table too.

Oh, they are pricey, aren't they? Just noticed. Almost as much as a cane Cesca.

They are okay with a Saarinen, but just okay.

for a table that looks great basically everywhere, I'm amazed at how tough it is to find chairs that look equally great next to it.

It's because the table itself is so perfect.

I like the Saarinen executive chairs with it, and they are comfortable. I'm a little tired of Saarinen personally, but I still enjoy the design.

If I had to pick a dining chair to use for the rest of my life, it would likely be the Finn Juhl 46, short of that I enjoy both the wishbone chair and the moller 57. None of which work with the Saarinen table, but I just like to mention them.

"that concrete base is not insignificant. Wouldn't all of your attention be drawn to all six of those bases instead of the Saarinen's base?"

after seeing a few other Jasper Morrison designed chairs today at Cappellini with the wife (who is an architect, so her opinion is superior to mine), this might be the winner. In light blue.

I find them ugly and I in general don't like cane seats.

One of the few cane seat/back chairs I like.

I like cane, mostly with danish chairs like the Wegner round one.

This is a nice alternative to the Cesca.

    and this

Both can usually be found at auction for a significant discount from the new ones. The MR armchair holds up well due to it being stainless steel.

Are they building a piece a day and shipping it by boat afterwards.

apparently. Shipe time is fairly standard for non-quick ship items from Magis. We'll see if it's shorter.

your chairs are going to beat the shit out of you first.
