Not meaning to derail the thread, but your reply makes me curious: When do you wear a tie casually?

When you wear it without being told to.

I just started wearing suits/ties daily and I cant get my ties to dimple anywhere near as well as some of the pics in this thread. Hopefully it gets easier with practice!

When I first tried to dimple my ties I couldn't do it well because I wasn't using enough tie material to create it. It's hard to explain. To get Spoo's deep dimples you just have to "uncover" more of the narrow blade of the tie, so you get more cloth on the dimple itself. Try to pull the wide blade forward away from the narrow one.

I don't like dimples, but I don't wear kipper ties and dimples look a bit daft of smaller ties. A dimple in a kravat is acceptable

I promise Im thinking about posting a video one day.

This.... please!

Also, always dimple. The Steve Harvey video posted earlier says everything you need to know about dimples.... if no dimples, then you are THAT GUY. Sorry!

I prefer dimples as I believe this adds more definition to the tie, however, the tie width and knot play a factor in applying it effectively. For consistancy there's always the dimple tool or clip

never!

I guess a dimple looks good if our trying for the spazatura look everyone goes on about.
