Dimple a wool tie?

I just bought a very nice woven brown Brioni in a 50/50 wool/silk blend. Should I still give it a hearty yank to dimple it or will this wrinkle the wool? This is my first wool tie.

I dont know if you should have to yank any tie for a dimple. If it makes one easily and you like a dimple then do it, otherwise it may look nice without one. Dont worry about the wrinkles too much, you can usually let those hang out or steam em out.

Wool ties wrinkle less than silk, in my experience. In any event, since you are always going to be tying the tie pretty much the same length, it's not like the wrinkling will make the tie look bad.

I pull it through the knot end first, and hold the top of the tie as I bring the knot tight.

It might be a bit much to deliberately do it, but I would not worry if one happens when tying it.
