Anyone else read Digg on a regular basis? They always have some good articles on there - it seems like a pretty technical fanbase.

Contributor. I don't care for the commentaries.

Digg is best for finding cool links and videos. I'd never take it seriously as a news site. I check it every day.

Yep, same here. I used to read Digg from time to time, but then I ran into friends who have known Digg's owner, Kevin Rose. The stories about the guy put him at uberdouche level, and I don't want to give him the hits.

It's a great way to check all the social media sites at one time, along with popular blogs, flickr, youtube, etc... You would think it would save you time but you end up wasting more on there because of all the material and updates every 15 seconds.

Slashdot.org is a better source for technical news. Digg and to a lesser extent Reddit, being "democratic" news engines, have degenerated into sources for mainly lolcats, Rick rolls, and extremely slanted left-wing news websites. I read Reddit for laughs, but that's about it.

Digg's tech section is essentially re-posts of slashdot articles plus more.

You are right about left-wing news being common on Digg but considering that it's the site's users that vote on posted articles, that doesn't really mean Digg itself is left-leaning, just it's membership.

Honestly, considering the age/social demographics of users, can you post out many non-political web2.0 sites that aren't left-leaning?
