Different pockets (picture!)

I just picked up these pants from B&S.. I've never really seen any pants with pockets like this and wanted to check to make sure it's not a faux pas to wear them to work. Disregard length, I haven't gotten them hemmed yet.

Also.. thoughts on these shoes my dad gave me? I generally dislike most of his clothes but I thought these looked kind of badass. I know not really thread worthy, but while I have your attention...
