Differences on the footbed between Goodyear and Blake constructed shoes

Recently I purchase a goodyear welted shoes and the blake stitched shoes. With blake's I expected the stitches on the footbed, but it was not a problem with a leather cover over them. The soles to blake's were thinner and may be even softer. This is very noticable as the sole would curve up by putting in a shoe tree. My biggest criticism of this particular blake shoes is the flattest of the footbed when compare to the goodyear. I feel walking on my goodyear the footbed is much smoother and flat where as my blakes it doesn't feel as flat and smooth, reminded the feel of a moccasin.

From reading forum, I think it is acknowledged that goodyear shoes soles are thicker. Is this the only reason the footbed feel flatter?

Does anyone know which maker uses blake construction, but with soles that are as thick and hard as a goodyear shoe?

I recall Blake's merit is a leaner shoe; I've never seen double-soled Blakes. Blake mimicking Goodyear kinda defeats the purpose - get Goodyear. Point being it's easier to resole Goodyear than Blake, so you'll enjoy your shoes longer. That being said Carmina does nicely with sleek yet Goodyear shoes.

To my understanding it's the goodyear welted construction that gives it the rigidness. My goodyear shoes definitely will not bend as much using both of my hand than the blake. I like the flexibility of the blake except the sole is not strong.

If I could give a tire analogy, They say touring tires will absorb bumps and gives a smooth consistent feel of the road while performance tires will be better in transfering the different nuances of the road to the driver.
