Differences between fibers?

What is the difference in texture and feel between fibers?

E.g Polyester and Cotton

Also what's the difference in feel between different types of cotton?

E.g

A shirt from H&M has a different touch sensation than my other Hugo Boss shirt.

Ask Andy about clothes has a good article, possibly by Alex Kabbaz, on the differences between shirtings--fibers, weaves, etc. Worth reading.

Generally speaking, cotton is usually much softer than polyester, and cotton typically breathes much better than polyester.
