I bought a pair of Diesels off ebay (see link below) because I really like the fit of the Kuratt model. Â I know it's a risky proposition, but the seller has 100% positive feedback with over 3000 items. Â When I compare these jeans to a pair I bought at a Diesel store, the material does not feel as soft. Â Do the different washes affect the softness of the material or do the jeans undergo a softening process as they wear? Â There are also some differences with the placement of rivets and the size and color of buttons. Â Do these kinds of details vary across washes or production runs? Diesel jeans Thanks in advance, dan

I am just wondering where this guy is getting the hundreds of diesel items he has sold on ebay. It looks kinda fishy to me and most of the Diesels on Ebay are fakes.

Have you checked the fake Diesel site? It may be out of date for you since you have what claims to be a new season pair, but I'm sure it may help a little if you haven't already taken a look.

Yes, and yes. What wash is the pair you, bought supposed to be (Should say on inside tag). Compare apples with apples.

Diesel switches up these details on a regular basis. However, the current models should all look the same. The best you can hope for is an older version of a current model (they switch up the cuts a little bit as well.)

My guestimate is that about 99% of the Diesels on Ebay are fake, ranging from really bad fakes (usually from Romania or another ex-Eastern bloc coutry) to really good ones (usually from the far east). The other thing is, the seller is actually going to be losing money selling current season Diesels for that little on Ebay. Most Diesels are retailing for about $150+ these days, and the markup is not *that* high.

Take it as a lesson learned.

Thanks for the responses. I took a look at the forums on the fake diesels site and they list a number of ebay sellers that are known for either fake or authentic merchandise. The consensus on the seller "dieselofmiami" from whom I made the purchase is that while his stuff is authentic, it's probably factory seconds or something like that. A number of "senior" members on that forum also claim that Diesel does have some of its lines produced in Romania.

That said, I will probably not buy jeans off ebay again unless I know the seller personally.

I need to go check my jeans. I bought Diesels off eBay last year... now I'm worried.

I don't know if this is true but its something i've noticed on the two pairs of diesel jeans that i own and the ones i've tried on that i can remember looking at it that there is the R with the circle around it on 5th pocket tag. On these its not there. i really don't look to much at Diesel and odn't have a lot of experience just something i've noticed that was not there on a fake pair i bought last year.

If they fit good, are reasonably durable and you didn't pay too much for them, what does it matter if they are fake?

Your point is valid, but one won't know if they're durable until it's too late.  I notice a difference in the denim now, but as LA Guy points out, it's probably due to the different wash and the fact that they're brand new.
