Such a tie clip may be described as "spectacular." (Ha, and again, ha.) The coat and shoes seem to belong to a higher register of formality than the rest of the outfit. But you have explained why that is.

My own difficulty with casual wear is that I have not found a source of inspiration comparable to the "What are you wearing today?" thread in this forum. I know that there is a thread of the same title in the "Streetwear and Denim" forum, but the items on display in it---hoodies, blue jeans, and the like---are not at all the sort of thing that I am looking for. What I have in mind is dress that is classically stylish but that doesn't require a necktie to complete it. If anyone can suggest where to look, please post links.
I would check this thread out.

I would check this thread out.

Thank you very much! That is exactly what I was looking for (and could not find, despite doing a search for "casual" in thread titles).

Sometimes my tie goes to the eye doctor.

Joshing aside, I'm resuming social media after a fast of a week and a half, so my apologies for the delayed response.

A part of my own resistance to casual style is that I find jeans simply uncomfortable, so a good many denim-based looks are simply not available to me. (And, honestly, I'm not too motivated to go in a denim direction anyway.)

Today's outfit: Coordinating my paisleys with a William Blake print.

Did I dress thoughtfully? Did I dress with a sense of occasion? This was my attempt.

My quest to find outfits for my neglected black shoes continues, this time with a black and white houndstooth. I echoed the houndstooth with white, brown, and navy, since the houndstooth has a warmish tone when the light hits right.

Today's outfit: The last of the pumpkin ties.

Since a number of my trousers are at the tailor still, I'll be rotating my trouser and blazer combinations a little more tightly these next few weeks. Fortunately, though, this combination of hunter green trousers and navy DB blazer makes an excellent frame for a number of shirts and ties.

Today's outfit: Fallen leaves, double lapels.

Did I dress thoughtfully? Did I dress with a sense of occasion? This was my attempt.

For some reason, I associate purple more with autumn than any other time of year. That's why I hardly ever wear this lilac shirt. I suppose I could wear it more casually sans neckwear, if I felt so inclined. The tie is another eBay find. While I realize the official SF approval is for smaller tie knots, I find that a single windsor is more satisfying than a small, boxy four-in-hand. De gustibus nondisputandum, and all.

Today's outfit: Poodle and herringbone.

(Not my dog; a passer-by.)

Did I dress thoughtfully? Did I dress with a sense of occasion? This was my attempt.

Since I won't be having classes this December, I reached ahead into my December color scheme of ties, which is always some variation of dark green. The v-neck sweater breaks the dense pattern of the shirt and jacket, and the penny loafers communicate the casual intent of the outfit.

Someone walked their dog around the corner between the second and third burst shot.

My unemployment balance hits 0 in two weeks. Thus, tried to go get a job, today

The gig is a bartender at an outdoor patio bar. This is the most casual I have ever dressed for an interview, but I read the situation well and felt appropriately dressed.

Today's outfit: Paisley & pomegranate.

Did I dress thoughtfully? Did I dress with a sense of occasion? This was my attempt.

After this, I have three more autumnal ties in my collection before I pivot to the December ones. I might have to grandfather them into January at this rate. I layered some subtle patterns into the mix, all of which look solid from a distance, letting the tie be the accent.
