Did i get ripped off?

A few months ago i bought a 2 piece suit (jacket and pants) for 280 dollars. Im new to this kind of dress style so i didnt know what to pick. Today i found out that the materials from which they are made are supposedly really cheap. The jacket is 65% polyester and 35% viscose. The buttons on the side are fake. The pants are almost the same, but with 2% elastan added. I bought them because they didnt look cheap to me (especialy the pants, they look and feel exactly the same as some that ive tried from hugo boss). What do you say?

Yes. You can get suits like that from halloween costume shops like Alain Dupetite for $39 and it would still be a rip off. Hugo Boss is at about the same level, so at least you didn't get that one instead. The best suit Hugo Boss makes is worth like $300 maybe.

I think theres humour that im not getting lol. Hugo boss makes halloween level suits? I searched alain dupetite and they looked alright to me. What should i look for?

What hes insinuating is that Hugo Boss is crap. Just because someone charges a higher amount doesnt make it good. And hes not wrong. HB is pretty bad. Quality bad and cuts worse.

Unfortunately at 280 you wont find much that anyone here would consider high grade. So ik terms of did you get ripped off? Depends on your outlook and priorities.

A polyester suit wont last very long. It will lose shape very quickly and will probably turn shiny fast.

In general, the most affordable but still decent quality stuff that will get recommended here is Suitsupply or Spier and Mackay. And they are both more than 280.

Looks good on you. People spend a lot more for something that fits as well.

Come on, for a polyester suit this is a lot of money.

Considering it's not wool, it's a lot of money. Is it a rip off ? Not necessarily. It's just not a good quality to price ratio. For a little more you can have a way better quality suit.
