Do I have insurance? Yes. Do I have time to go the doctor? No. If I do, its gonna have to be 2 weeks from now. Therefore.. lets hear what some of you athletic guys have to say. I think I have tendinitis.

About 4 years I was playing basketball indoors. I planted hard on the my right heel and immediately felt a sharp shooting pain going up from my heel to the outside of my ankle. The right ankle felt pretty bad but I could still walk fine. I went to vegas the same night for a bachelor party and drank away the pain to the point that I was walking fine and jumping up and down. Not a very smart move. From that point on the inflammation on the right side of my ankles has gone down by I do not have full movement in the ankle, furthermore there is a fluid filled pocket directly where the joint is on the front right of my ankle, I have bouts of pain even when walking but nothing severe enough to warrant a doctor visit. The ankle has been this way for about 4 years now. Last saturday, I went to go play basketball and my ankles is killing me now, it is swollen and the pocket of fluid is bigger.

Since I never went to a doctor for it, I think the ankle is just screwed at this point and I have old man tendinitis. Do you think draining the ankle will help any?

It actually probably isn't tendonitis, but rather a grade 2 sprain of one of the ligaments. Hard to say which one without actually seeing the foot, but based on your description perhaps the calcaneofibular. That being said if you want it to improve you should seriously consider seeing a doctor.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but he wants to know if we think he should drain it. Presumably he wants to drain it himself. Everyone keeps saying go the doctor (myself included), but I don't think that's the answer he is looking for. Anyone going to help him out and tell him whether he should drain it or not?
