So I found a pair of RRL slim-straight raw jeans at TJ Maxx, sized 29x34. The waist is fine but I'm a 31 or a 32 in jeans - will hemming a few inches off the bottom affect the cut of the pants at all?

Next time, please use the tagged "quick question" or "jeans" thread at the top. To answer your question, no it should not impact the overall cut on the slim-straights. Also, you can have them altered to include the original bottom of the jean for an extra cost (usually around 20.00 total).

Jeans should not have the same inseam as your pants. Just keep that in mind.

If you just lay out your jeans flat and look at where you want it hemmed, you can see how it affects the cut.

Says who? What if he doesn't want any stacking?

My current favorite pair of jeans are the same length as my pant. I wanted a full break/1 stack on the jeans so they wound up nearly the same length as the pants because I wear the jeans on the hip and the pants on the waist. Would have been almost exact if I wore my pants with more break.

I wouldn't hem your jeans because they're 2" too long. Unless you're looking at 4"+ too long I wouldn't bother. A little long looks good... Ridiculous long can work with the right look, although you wouldn't be asking this if you were going for that look. I can't really see any looks that would be adversely effected by 2" of extra jean.
