I just noticed a really cool new feature on the AE website. You can now customize specific models down to the color of the stitching. The price is a reasonable $450 and you can use JR soles at no extra charge.

From my perspective, the glaring omissions are shell cordovan and the ability to choose the last. I imagine that both were left out for pretty obvious reasons but it would have been nice to get some shell longwings on the #4 last.

One good thing is that you can have different measurements for the right and left foot. I'm off by a half size and could use the customization.

Wow. Do they have option to insert croc or python or ostrich skin?
At different colour combinations? If so, I may get a few 'uncoloured' shoes and patina them myself.
At 450, I might just make an exception and buy 5 pairs!

Also, it's interesting that black custom calf runs you $325 (without special soles), but every other colour - including solids - costs $450.

Very cool! Gonna customize a pair now... just wish they had some new styles of shoe to start with and some that were less dressy.
