Two-part video on the design of the Nikon F. The 2nd part really gets into the design:

Nikon F3 and later were also designed by Giugiaro, but the original F already had design as a fundamental part of its DNA.

To commemorate designer Tobias Wong, who committed suicide last year, his friend Frederick McSwain composed a portrait of Wong using 13,138 die"”one for each year of Wong's life.

If I lived over thirteen thousand years I'd probably commit suicide too

Californian artist Doug Rickard explores slice-of-life Americana in his work, portraying his characters in isolation amid suburban detritus. Except for Rickard, all his images are real"”the artist picks them from Google Street View.

    What Does NYC Sound Like?

"What if we experienced cities not by sight or smell but by hearing them? A project by Parsons The New School for Design called SoundAffects hopes to do that by turning everyday things like weather and traffic into sounds.

With sensors placed around a New York City block from 13 to 22 May, SoundAffect tracked objects, temperature, light, weather and so on, assigning each variable a color and sound. The Parsons team also conducted "˜experiments' around the block, such as letting loose flocks of colored balloons, to see how the disruptions affected the music."

    How:

    What:
    http://soundaffectsnyc.com/#visualizer

I could watch the visualizer all day.

    ----------

"At www.mta.me, Conductor turns the New York subway system into an interactive string instrument. Using the MTA's actual subway schedule, the piece begins in realtime by spawning trains which departed in the last minute, then continues accelerating through a 24 hour loop. The visuals are based on Massimo Vignelli's 1972 diagram."

You guys probably shouldn't quote those large pics. Or use the spoiler tags if you must.

I made a chair like that when I was doing my carpentry class in middle school. There's is nicer, mine kinda veered back and forth. I also made a Don Cherry Bubba Beer keg into a lamp. I still have the lamp.

Absolutely amazing. Thanks. The "Inception Chair" is a bit too cute for me.
