Gentlemen,

I am looking for someone who could describe to me, with as much detail as possible, what a shirt fabric sample would have looked like if given to a customer in Paris in the 1850's.

Thank you,

Fabienne

And how would that piece of fabric have been cut, how would it have been presented (glued to a card, in an envelope), etc...

Isn't there a museum of costume/clothing in France?

There is a good one in Bath, England.

The textile department of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London may know something as well.

Otherwise, time to reread all those Balzac novels!

Call Charvet (33-1-42-60-30-70), they may still have some laying around.
