Denver is high on my "cities to visit" list. Should it remain there?

I'm trying to judge places by food, nightlife and attractions (good museums/art centers, etc.).

I didn't hate it, but I have absolutely no itch to go back, nor can I think of anything to tell you that you must see.

It's very good, but I like it for what's outside of Denver more so than what's in it (ie it's proximity to other great sites in neighboring towns).

I'm right outside of Denver now. What are some places I should visit?

I went to LoDo one night, but I wasn't impressed by anything I saw.

I think I'd rather go to Portland. The many microbrews and liberal atmosphere are appealing (though I do understand Denver is not a conservative city).

I get into Denver a fair amount for work. A couple of nice museums, a very good, fun cabaret, a few decent restaurants, a lot of irrationally over-priced hotels.

I have only flown in there to ski, it's hard to breathe up there.
