I know in Italy its common for men to wear denims and a blazer and look great for a very casual but put together look. Can anyone explain how to do this?

I have a few ideas, but please, I'd like your ideas also.

I cant image there being a problem with dark slim denim, a sport shirt (plain, striped, gingham, etc), and a more casual pair of loafers, or even driving mocs. I also think you could even wear a knit tie to give it a little more formality.

What do you all think? Post pictures if you have of people wearing denims and blazers/SCs.

I have to say that I like the look, particularly with loafers. There's a lot of discussion about the jean and the texture of the SC and the tie, etc. I just don't think too much about it. It's one of those things that you either get or you don't. If you don't you can try to "learn" the tricks to make it work but it doesn't mean it will.

Like ed said there are a few who pull it off really well. IST66, NOBD and Pocketsquare come to mind. Look at what they do and how they do it. Having said that those guys are some of the best posters regardless, so the bar is high.

This is one of those things that if you have to ask how to do it, your odds of succeeding are very low.

At one end of the spectrum is faded dad jeans & an orphaned worsted suit coat. At the other end is success. Good luck.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
