Newbie here. Was considering getting a pair of APC Rescues as my intro to dry denim, but am a little concerned that the straight leg fit may be too tapered at the ankle for my preferences. While I don't want a flared leg opening, my personal preference is for something not tapered (ala APC New Standards, I believe). Are any brands or types that fall within the middle? thanks

Rescues are not tapered. They are straight, straight, straight from the knee to the hem.

Thanks. I knew they weren't tapered, but what I was trying to find out (in poor fashion) was how much smaller their leg opening might be versus other jeans. I found one photo and thread on here with a pair of jeans with an 8.25 inch opening, which seemed just about right. I think I read somewhere that the Rescues are like 7.25.

Well, I may be in the minority here, but I don't think you can expect to get a good fit, or tell much about a styling difference, without actually trying them on. So much depends on the rest of the cut. Or maybe I'm just hard to fit and persnickity.

A lot depends on the length. I'm wearing Rescues right now, but I'm quite tall and so they look a *little* flared, just due to the straight cut and the length.

[though I suppose you wouldn't be asking if you cuold get a pair to try on...]

That 8.25" measurement is with the leg laid flat. It's really 16.5" around.

My 29 waist Rescues have a hem of 8.5" if that helps. I think they only look on blokes with big thighs by the way

thanks for the input. As a frame of reference, I measured the flat leg opening of a pair of Stronghold jeans I have and it was 9.5" or so. I don't think I'd like to go much narrower than that, so...

Another data point: my Rescue's have waist marked 31, and 8 7/8" for the leg opening. It can't be much bigger than that at all or else either the leg is flared or the entire leg is cut huge. (For about this waist size...obv larger waist means larger hem for the same cut)
