i was never a fan really- but does anyone wear jean jackets? i tried one on for the first time a week ago- granted it was more like a blazer than a jacket, but i actually considered getting it- but i feel the denim on denim is a bit overkill? what are your sentiments on denim jackets?

I used to have a cool vintage Lee 101J denim jacket, but I don't go for that look anymore. The last time I wore a denim jacket over jeans, my sister asked me "who do you think you are, the Marlboro Man?"

one of the senior staff here has a denim blazer, which he wears sometimes on top of his shirts in the office when it gets too chilly. when he wears it with an all white ensemble especially the denim blazer looks stunning.

i don't really like how it goes with jeans, though.

I have a Levi's 507 repro and I wear it on occasion. I don't rock the denim on denim all the time, but sometimes you are just going for comfort and a pair of jeans with a denim jacket with a hoodie underneath pulls that off. I think denim jacket when worn in correctly look way better than jeans. There is so much more movement in the upper body to produce great contrasting. Honeycombs on the inner elbow (?) look wicked mad hot. That jacket looks amazing. Like a 506 repro. I would definitely sport that jacket.

i have 3 denim jackets from Helmut Lang, indigo raw, grey raw, and vintage light grey. all similar to the levi's 705 denim jacket. wear them with border shirt/tank tops with some cargo during the summer time. if i wear to wear them denim/denim, i would bring a beanie or something on top to balance things out, especially if the two denims are dark indigo. something i just prefer.

I usually pair my heavily distressed, too small 506XX with dry ola or 501XX 47. It looks pretty good and the very trim fit completely changes the way the outfit is perceived.

I picked up this Lee jacket new from a vintage store a few months ago. I'm not sure exactly how old it is, but I've been told probably late 60s/early 70s. It's a little big, but I think it looks okay layered with a bulky hoodie, which helps to offset the denim tuxedo look. This is what the jacket looks like now.

Yeesh, the arms on that jacket are huge. I don't think it looks good with your jeans at all.

The jacket doesn't look bad, imo, but it is a little big, and the skinny jeans are not helping. It's not like puffa jacket or a military jacket, which, worn oversized, could look good with skinny jeans. I think it's time for someone to get a pair of jeans in the 6 or 7 level on the Brian Skinny to loose scale.

Yeah, that nudie jacket pic is closer to the fit I tend to prefer on a denim jacket. I made an exception with this one because it was an interesting find and didn't think the mc hammer arms were quite so obvious

As for going for baggier jeans to compensate, I'm more into the pants than the jacket. Good points made, though.

I know this picture has been posted to death, but I don't care. He is just too cool.

So I think that settles the discussion on whether denim on denim is okay. There will be no more badmouthing the denim on denim look. I just won't have it.
