Last Summer, I picked up a deadstock 1960s Levi's number in beautiful shape on eBay for about $70.

Thanks. I had Yoox on my list, just haven't gotten to it yet. Size depends on the manufacturer. Usually a large, but in Ralph Lauren and a few others a medium. I would like to stay under $100.

One more question: The appropriate way to wear a denim jacket with denim pants is to wear contrasting washes, correct?

Correct unless you are cool enough to pull off the unwashed denim-unwashed denim look a la APC. Tough that.

The double denim look ("The Canadian Tuxedo&quot is generally a bad idea.

Allow me to suggest sprucing up your jacket with a Kreator or Obituary backpatch.

don't mean to hijack the thread but i'm going to guess that this is the first (and probably last) time Kreator has been referenced at the Styleforum. congrats. i still prefer Slayer though. ok, back on subject. someone go buy the SBU denim jacket that www.virtualclotheshorse.com has so i won't spend money on it. -Jeff

You can always cut the sleeves off of the denim jacket, fray them a bit, and wear it over a leather jacket that's been beaten all to hell and has various sharp things protruding from it.

Pair all of this with some vintage white Reeboks with the "poor aim at the urinal" antiquing and you'll be good to go.

Does anyone wear traditional Levi's jean jackets anymore, the kind that deadheads used to sew flowers and sculls into the back of? I have one that I bought in 1982 or so that I don't think I've worn since the late 1980s. I'm tempted to donate it to the thrift shop, but I can't bring myself to part with it. Sort of like the early 1990s leather jacket.

Yes.

I don't think the early 90s leather jacket can be compared to a Levi's denim jacket.

If the early 90s leather jacket are the ones I remember my classmates wearing during that time--interpretations of the classic bomber style with added zipperage and gusseting that people would always wear four sizes too big--no comparison at all. One is a classic, the other is a poorly produced cookie-cutter knock off of a classic.
