Is there any way to dye your denim, say you bought dark blue wash, and you could dye a lighter shade, then a lighter shade.. to simulate wear and tear?

bleach would do the trick...dying doesn't usually go dark to bright...it goes the reverse

Stupid question, but it just popped into my head... if you wanted to give your jeans a dirtier look, but were too lazy/prissy to go out and get them dirty yourself... could you soak 'em in a tub of black tea? Effects would probably be temporary, but has anyone tried this, or soaking it in something else?
