I don't like it at all. If you're already in a situation where denim is appropriate, why on earth would you not just wear jeans?

Because this adds a further nuance between jeans and trousers. It's a bit like 2nd order vagueness (just lookin' at your screen name).

In high school we used to call them slackpants and I don't know why. People only wore them as a joke and I think the same of them now.

Ha. For that purpose I'd use the opposite variant (J-pocket trousers). With pleats, like in the first picture, I don't think the denim drapes well enough to make it work. And every time I've seen these in flat-front, there's been a lot of pocket flaring going on.

Naked and Famous has some interesting denim variations.

Chinos, denim/wool blends....cashmere.

I tried on the denim/wool weird guys last weekend and I really liked them. I will buy them when they are on sale.

Barneys has most of the line.

They are in the same category as denim blazers...used to own one made by Etro and could never figure out what to wear it with...too formal for a casual occasion and too casual for...

Thazzrite. I have the pants - I like them in theory, dearie, but it's a tough look to make work. Denim pleats blouse enough that you can't wear a jacket, and without a jacket it's so caszh looking I might as well wear regular jeans and get the fit. Can put a jacket over 'em, too.

They're funny pants. It always seems that there's a solution out there, but I haven't found it.

Aloha,

Poinz

Bumping the thread proves very little. Just wear jeans and look smart not this hybrid garment.

Because unlike denim, leather isn't a kind of cotton twill.
